Huge 100kg bull shark sinks teeth into man's leg as blood spills into the water

This is the terrifying moment a shark sunk its teeth into an animal handler's leg as his colleagues battled to save him from further attacks.

Boontem Singsura, 55, was badly bitten when relocating three bull sharks at Kung Kraben Aquaculture Demonstration Facility, Thailand.

The creatures needed to be moved due to low tide and the officer sat on the ten-year-old animal's head to keep it under control.

But as the man waded into the water, the shark panicked - and attacked his right leg.

His shocked colleagues quickly rushed in to help, knowing that his injuries could spark a frenzy in the water.

They lifted him out of the water to prevent other sharks from smelling the blood before alerting the medical staff for help.

Colleague Manas Kongsri, 50, said they were luring the creature into a tunnel when Boontem put his weight on the creature's head and it resisted.

Staff say they will never ever to beast's pond again.

He said: "We thought the shark would be familiar with our presence because we once performed CPR on it and also put an oxygen tube in its mouth. Then this happened.

"It was terrifying. I would not dare go into the shark pond ever again.

"Boontem's wound was also big and the blood just kept on flowing out from his leg."

The injured animal handler's wound had "sheets of flesh hanging from it" with the shark's bite marks.

His jeans were also torn apart following the attack.

The medical staff rushed to the spot to give first aid before bringing Boontem to Tha Mai Hospital for further treatment.

Boontem received stitches for his bite wounds and had no other serious injuries.

A three sharks were transferred successfully to a new pond.

It comes after a lifeguard at Jones Beach State Park, New York, claims he was bitten by a shark while in the water.

Emergency services at scene provided initial treatment to the man, who was referred to a local hospital for further
examination and treatment.

Swimming was prohibited for several hours on the beach last week following a number of sightings.

Police responded with a drone to overfly and inspect the water and an investigation in underway.

"We have the ability of drones to scan the waters, so we are on the watch, we have been on the watch, whenever lifeguards come on duty, we have state police on the beachfront as well as the park staff that are continuously monitoring the waterways," regional director of NYS Parks George Gorman said.
