Shark bites fisherman’s finger

A man has been bitten on the finger by a reef shark he was trying to untangle from a fishing net in Western Australia’s north.
Police said the 32-year-old man was fishing in a tidal creek about five kilometres from Wickham in the Pilbara region yesterday.
He caught several reef sharks that became entangled in his fishing nets and, while trying to pull one, out was bitten on the right middle finger, police said.
It was not clear at what time the incident occurred.
The man was taken to the nearby Roebourne Hospital, where he received eight stitches.
He was not seriously injured and did not lose his finger.
