Daytona Beach Shark Bite
A North Carolina surfer is recovering after being bitten by a shark in Daytona Beach.
Volusia County Beach Patrol lifeguards say 20-year-old Kyle Cody was walking near the Ocean Walk Band Shell in when the shark took a bite out of his foot.
This is the eleventh shark bite in Volusia County so far.
Cody was treated at the scene and walked away from the incident.
Captain Rob Horester from the Volusia County Beach Patrol said, "A marine animal might've nipped him in the foot in about shin deep water. A 20-year-old male from North Carolina around the Ocean Walk area and something nipped him in the foot. We're not sure what it was, it could've been bait fish, it could've been a shark."
Nonetheless, Beach Patrol is calling the incident a shark bite. They say swimmers need to look out for baitfish in the area. Where there is baitfish, there are sharks.
