Teen Says Shark Attack Won't Keep Him Out Of Water

POSTED: 10:17 am EDT July 31, 2006

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. -- A Brevard County surfer said a shark bite will not keep him out of the ocean. The shark took a chunk out of 15-year-old Matt Wishengrad's foot while he was surfing at Playalinda Beach on Saturday.

Matt said he was trying out his new surfboard when the shark bit down hard on his foot. When the shark let go, Wishengrad swam as fast as he could for the beach.

"I paddled back and, as I looked behind me and saw a trail of blood, I was like, hope another shark doesn't come and get me," he said.

Matt did make it safely back to shore. He needed a lot of stitches to close up the shark bite.
