Man bitten by nurse shark during rescue

LAUDERDALE-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. (WSVN) -- A diver was bitten by the shark he was trying to rescue.

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Fire Rescue responded to the scene of the incident, which occurred in the area of 2 E. Commercial Blvd. at around 4:30 p.m., Sunday.

The diver attempted to free the nurse shark from a net when the shark bit him.

The bite victim was treated on the scene for lacerations; he is expected to survive.
