Additional Info:
Got to the beach just after sunset tonight ( Monday evening) down at BlackPot Beach, that sits adjacent to the Hanalei River Mouth. A pocket of people were hanging out on the beach and I went to see a friend and wish him a happy birthday.
Chris, whos b'day it was, said I should have been down here earlier because a guy had been attqcked by a large tiger shark and the guy was still on the beach somewhere, because his pick-up truck was still parked on the beach.
We walked over to see who it was but he had gone to change
(his soiled shorts) and went to shower (I presumed)and was no where around. I later found out it was a guy named Jim Rawlinson (sp) whos been around for some time.
Story was, the shark came from behind him, went at the tail section and bit down and shoved the board forward, where Jim, got pitched backwards and fell back on the shark and was riding the shark for a short period of time untill the shark gave up, released the board and Jim, slid off.
I didn't get much more of the story from first hand but there was alot of documentation done Before I got there by locals and a guy from SaveOurSeas. It's just NUTZ!
Photo's of the board follow.
