19-Year Old Fisherman Looses Both Arms In Another Shark Attack Off Maxixe, Inhambane Bay - Mozambique

(2015-11-02) It was supposed to be a normal fishing day, but instead tragedy came knocking on Albino Ernesto’s door. The 19-year old fisherman was attacked by a shark and lost both his arms fishing for shrimp just off Maxixe, Inhambane Bay, around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.

The shark first knocked the victim off his feet so that the fisherman fell into the water and, because he kept hold of his full net which he was trying to land and the animal was trying to make off with, it bit savagely into his arms as well. After a few seconds of struggle the fisherman, badly injured, managed to get lose from the shark’s jaws.

With his arms hanging off his body, Albino was rushed to the Chicuque Rural Hospital in Maxixe, where the medical team saw no option but to amputate both his arms.

Albino Ernesto's current condition is stable, reports A Verdade today, quoting hospital sources.

This is the third attack in the area in less than a month.
