An unidentified teenage surfer reported being bitten by a shark Saturday afternoon while hitting waves off Fort Pierce, a St. Lucie County Fire District official said.
The unidentified 18-year-old man didn’t get a look at the shark that bit his arm and hand, said District Chief Jim Hall. The teenager suffered minor injuries, he said.
The surfer, who met rescue workers at the 900 block of Shorewinds Drive, was bitten around 4:30 p.m. while surfing at the Fort Pierce Inlet State Park.
“He was transported to a local hospital,” Hall said.
No other information was available Saturday.
