Man says shark bit him on Isle of Palms
A 32-year-old man was apparently bitten by a shark on the Isle of Palms Tuesday afternoon.
The fire department got the call around noon, Chief Ann Graham said. The man had a 3-4 inch gash on one of his legs and was taken to a hospital for treatment. He told rescue personnel he saw a couple of sharks nearby before he was bitten.
Graham said they don’t get shark-bite calls very often.
“When you consider the number of people on the beach, it’s pretty rare,” she said.
