Officials: Marks on boy from shark bite

Wildlife officials said deep bite marks indicate that a 8-year-old Pennsylvania boy swimming Sunday morning near 34th Avenue North was bitten by a shark.

It was the second confirmed shark attack this summer in the Carolinas and the first for Myrtle Beach.

Shark bites swimmer in Ormond Beach


DAYTONA BEACH — A man surfing in the ocean in Ormond Beach became Volusia County´s latest shark bite victim Saturday, Beach Patrol officials said.

Man reports ankle bite in surf


NEW SMYRNA BEACH — A 25-year-old Heathrow resident may be Volusia County´s second shark-bite victim of 2005.

Beach Patrol Capt. Tony Sopotnick said Matthew Pearce told officers he was surfing about a quarter mile south of Ponce de Leon Inlet at about 11:15 a.m. Friday when he stepped off his surfboard and was forcefully bumped.
